Our Room With a View Wall Unit consists of 4 panels, which can folded into numerous positions. In the 3 panel wall paper system center panel covers the center of the wall. In the 4 panel system the center panel is divided in half. This divided option allows the collector to pose the wall in more complex layouts. Collectors can cut their center panels in half to achieve this effect. OR, you can ask us to prepare your order with a divided center wall. SCENE SHOP 101: Wall board and wainscoting is a panelling style applied to the lower half of an interior wall. The traditional tongue and grove boards, commonly refered to as wall boards in the United Stares, became very popular in Colonial America and was an inexpensive way to protect the lower half of walls from the east coast dampness. Wealthier homes in both Europe and America used beadboard or decorative panels (commonly refered to as wainscoting) and were traditionally painted white or, if a fine wood was used, richly stained and waxed. Today both techniques are primairly used for decoration and are found in both historical and modern homes. Boiserie is ornate and intricately carved wood panelling. Early examples of boiseries were unpainted, but later the raised mouldings were often painted or gilded. Boiseries were popular in 17th and 18th century French interior design and the Palace of Versailles. The panels were not confined just to the walls of a room but were also used to decorate doors, frames, cupboards and shelves. Often pictures would be set into the boiseries, the carving framing the picture rather like a conventional frame. |
